SKS is one of the most fun range guns you can get. They are accurate, reliable and easy to modify if you want. I recommend keeping it original to get practice with that kind of setup.

I love my SKS the stock was soft from age but when I got the cosmoline off and got to metal you could see the previous owner took care of it. Good shape and only some surface rust that came off with oil and a cloth where the cosmoline did not fully penetrate into the stock. Much better than my yugo SKS. I wish I had gotten two.

the SKS was in decent shape. Rather expensive The rifle should have been about $100 cheaper for the condition. But I really like vintage rifles and I'm okay with it.

I purchased this Chinese Type 56 SKS one month ago. It took me a couple of weeks before I could get to the disassembly and cleaning of this rifle. When I first looked at the rifle at the local FFL, it was beautiful. It was in GREAT condition, no rust, no holes or chips out of the stock, all the numbers matched on it's pieces and there wasn't a huge amount of gunky cosmoline on the thing. It was love at first sight. Anyway, I asked a local gun dealer what he used to clean his Russian SKS's and he said cold use OVEN CLEANER. Disassembling the rifle was pretty easy for a first timer. The over cleaner worked very well. I highly recommend it. I put the rifle back together and it was just as easy. The dark marbling on the wood grain is magnificent! However, due to the weather and illness, I couldn't shoot my SKS for another two weeks. Today-2/17/13-I finally got to fire this piece of history. Oh my goodness.... It shot flawlessly! It has very little recoil. AND, . . . I like it better than my AR-15. I can't believe I'm saying that, but it's true. You aim it and it shoots where you point it. Now I must save money because I want another one. Bud's fast service had my rifle in the hands of the local FFL dealer in California in less than a week. I love using Bud's because of their speedy service and good quality items. You can trust them 100%!!!

great gun stock is what i expected no problem there, i wish i could get some more at this $399 price but think them days are gone sks is by far the most under rated true battle rifle with milled receiver much better than some of the ak47 out there

I love Buds but this gun is rough. There is rust on the butt end of the receiver, trigger group, and magazine that can't be fixed with a little steel wool. Almost all of the blueing is worn off, and the stock is going to take a lot of work to rescue. I took the gun completely apart to remove the cosmoline and found that the gas piston extention was frozen in place. After I pounded it out with a hammer and a small steel rod, I noticed that it was pretty badly bent. This is a great example of why you or a gunsmith should always inspect any used firearm that you purchase. Firing this weapon in the condition that i received it in would have most certainly resulted in a dangerous failure of the gas system. I wanted a project gun, but this feels more like raising Lazarus...

When they said the stock was a little beat I didn't expect chunks of the wood to be knocked out of it. Bluing was almost completely gone. No rust though due to the bath of cosmoline. But still fine overall just very ugly to look at.

Picked up from FFL on 12/26. Gun was better than expected. A little beat up and covered in cosmo. Completely disassembled, cleaned and refinishing stock. Firing pin was froze up,be sure to do a complete cleanup on this firearm. Arrived on 12/24 and was shipped quite fast with the current rush on things. Very satisfied.

Stock was beat to hell and back and soaked in cosmoline is an understatement, But the guns metal is in very decent condition the bluing is great. What i do recommend doing is taking that firing pin completely apart and cleaning it i ran 20 rounds through mine it ran perfect, and is now my project gun time for the tapco stock and 20 round mags to make this what the public calls an " assault " rifle. Pistol grips are Scarey not ergonomic!

The rifle arrived and the stock was horrible as one might expect, the kit was not included in the stock nor a strap. it did come with the bayonette. The rifle shot very straight and only had a couple failure to fires, that was probably the cheap ammos fault tho. Overall for $299 this was a great deal.

The weapon came as described, battle worn, and caked is cosmoline. The stock was beat up and soaked through, but solid. The bluing was partially worn off on one side of the barrel. I spent probably 24+ total hours cleaning and restoring the gun. It turned out beautiful. I refinished the stock but tried to leave some of its previous scars to give it character. Make sure to thoroughly clean this weapon, INCLUDING THE BOLT, before firing it. My firing pin was sticky when I received the weapon. It is not enough to spray the bolt with brake cleaner or soak it in kerosene. You MUST disassemble it in order to clean it. It is not hard to do, check youtube. I took it to the range tonight for the first time and it ran flawlessly, 80 rounds. :)

Rifle arrived even better than I expected. Stock is heavily worn but nothing that cant be refinished, excellent blueing and rifling and functions perfectly. 2nd purchase from buds and couldn't be more satisfied.

Rifle was exactly as described. Stock was a bit worn and bluing very worn but rifle functions flawlessly. An excellent rifle for a good price. This is my new project gun.

Excellent deal and exactly what I had hoped when I ordered. She shows wear, but no cracks in the stock, and the mechanicals are very sound. Packed thoroughly with cosmoline, which I consider to be a great thing. By sn# I got a 1958...........Can't wait to get her scrubbed clean and take her out for a test run!!! 3rd Bud's purchase, 3rd outstanding experience!!

Great rifle as expected. The stock being in rough condition is a bit of an understatement. This stock is very beat up although still functional. There is a little surface rust around the magazine but not bad. The internals and the barrel are in amazing condition. much better than expected. The barrel looks almost new

Thanks buds for outstanding service. The gun was in beat up war condition like expected. Me being a gunsmith i completely restored the gun. All the metal and bluing was in great condition. There were many dings and dents throughout the gun. The gun was just dipped in cosmolline but just make sure to clean and inspect your firearm before any use. Well worth the money, and fast shipping. Thanks again buds for great service.

Quick shipping as always. The stock is pretty beat up as advertised, but there was some rust on the BCG. The bore however, was quite shiny and the rifling was deep and sharply defined.
