Old reliable. This has been one of my hunting rifles for years. Solid and worth the buy.

Shoots great.Scope is good enough to get the job done.great price and service from Buds,as always!Very hard to get a rifle and ammo for a deal like this was.30.06 is getting very expensive.

My rating is based on the product FOR THE PRICE - I have around 25 rounds through this rifle so far.
It's decent. Not great but not terrible, I definitely feel it's worth $250.
Accuracy is OK, I shot a few 1.5-2inch groups after sighting it in. maybe once I get the recoil anticipation under control I'll shoot it a little better,
Scope is Meh, Clear but simple, no mil dots just a crosshair. it already cracked on my first trip out with it. Honestly, doesn't affect too much so I'll keep it on there unless it gets worse.
Eye relief on the scope could be better, I almost got whacked in the eye a few times first time out at the range.
Bolt and action were totally crap out of the box, (rifle was dry of any lubricant) Cleaned and lubed it up and it cycles smooth enough now.
Disassembly is easy, firearm safety is the cheapest imaginable, A little lever that you push forward to disengage.
The rifle has a hell of a kick.
Butt pad is rather hard but it's no slip.
The sling mount is just molded plastic and part of the stock (cheap!)
Magazine is cheap feeling and is hard to get in and out.but replacements are cheap I think less than $20
For $250 this is a great cheap way to get into a high power cartridge such as a 30-06 with everything you need. Keep in mind it's no frills and just meant to send a 30 cal down range for as little money as possible.

This rifle is well worth the cost, and performs much better than you would expect for $250. The scope is cheesy, the eye relief is to close and I have to remove my glasses, but when you get a rifle and scope at the price what can you expect. A $500 dollar scope and it shoots as well as a $1000 rifle and a $500 scope. It's easy to hold on target, groups shots well, and kicks as expected. Rounds feed well they are also easy to load into mag and the mag is easy to load into rifle.. The only complaint is the mag only holds 4 rounds, which is slightly small when you are trying to sight it in (when I received mine it was not bore sighted), so it took me awhile to sight it in. Over all good experience, just putting on a $50 red dot and I have a good hunting rifle, I don't have to go around worried if it gets scratched.

Very nice rifle for the money. Only real con I have is the sling attachments very cheap and plastic not able to add a Bipod easily

Not the best rifle I have but it does shoot strait, and seems to be pretty good value. There are a few scratches on the scope lense but not in a location which will effect the shooting and aim of the rifle. The gun magizine is a little cheap so I would buy a spare for this rifle. Check scope lense carefully even though you have a cover over them.

1st of all Buds service is 5 and this was my 2nd order from here and no problems. As for the 770 as some of the previous review said this rifle was a P.O.S. all of us in the gun world know what that stands for. I fired about a 50 round thru and out the 50 maybe the rifle feed properly 8 times Yes people 8 bullets. I feed it remington 180 gr core lokt and 180 gr Federal the failed to feed so bad the lead was breaking off the tips. The bolt binded felt like it was welded in and i put some muscle into pulling it out and guess what the BOLT CAME COMPLETELY OUT THE GUN. I cleaned and inspected the rifle prior to shooting and all this still happened I may have got one bad one out of a batch that 40% poor 60% functioning. The rifle is out on its way to a remington repair center in New York expect it back in 3 weeks will give you all an update. Should have bought the savage or the ruger 30-06 at the Base Exchange for $55 more.

Great gun, I've run two boxes of ammo thru it and Havn't miss my target yet and I'm shooting POP cans at 50-150 yards. I ordered it on Friday and had the gun on Tuesday. Lovin' it.

I give this a gun an overall 3 because it wasn't horrible, nor was it awesome. PROS: Great Price Good Scope for overall price feels like a strong and solid gun Shoots well CONS: Eye to scope distance is very short. Be careful of "scope eye" Stock is pretty short In-gun magazine isn't smooth at all

I have had all the same problems as the other two reviews. The bolt action sticks, magazine doesn't load correctly, has a very heavy trigger pull, and the barrel jumps more than it should. Every time I take it out I have to spend 10 rounds re-sighting it in the scope it came with. Now I have to figure out if I want to put extra money into it for things like a muzzle break or just loose my money and take it to a pawn shop. I have always loved Remingtons, I will not buy another because of the 770.

if you want a cheap rifle or 30/06 go with the marlin....i ordered this gun received it just in time for hunting season looked over it at the ffl looked good.. took it home loaded the mag and the gun wouldnt even load the first bulle..t the bullet didnt line up with the barrel and didnt feed properly... so now i had to contact remington and the gun has to be sent out to get fixed.... a brand new gun...... guess im missing hunting season.

I bought this firearm because it was only $302 (at the time, not it's $297). I just fired my first two magazines today. It didn't really hurt my shoulder as much as my Dad's R700, but it didn't feel like some 22. The first cartridge sent the scope into my eye gear and hurt like a mother, still does as I'm writing this an hour or so later. I gave this product a four because if you're in the market for a nice 30-06 that's cheap then you can buy this. I want to hunt with it eventually, maybe when I learn to stop jerking the darn trigger, and maybe once I've calmed the recoil. I cannot give any good information on its reliability or whatever since I've only fired eight shots and never even hit a target at 50 yards (I will once I get this thing sighted in). If you're a wimp and can't take the recoil then buy a 308 or 270 Winchester for hunting deer, but if you can tame the beast that is the 30-06 then go ahead and click buy. Oh and buds shipped it well, they did a great job and so I'll be sure to find more stuff on this site. There's some trouble with the bolt (it's kind of hard to rechamber and all that) but it really doesn't effect the weapon very much. Brian S of San Diego
