I bought one of these lovely little .22 rifles when it was called the model 504 and had matte blue finish and walnut stock without the fancy forend tip. I think I paid about $400.00 from Buds at the time and the gun came with weaver type scope blocks...a nice touch. The new 547 comes out of the custom shop at double the price but it is the very same action and barrel gun as I am shooting, so I guess I got a bargain! The trigger comes from the factory set with a bit of over engagement on the sear, but Remington anticipated this and when you take the gun apart there is a little setscrew in the sear that you can adjust further to reduce engagement and when I did so I wound up with an excellent pull, no creep, weight around 2.8 lbs and overtravel reduced to almost nothing. It works GREAT and I had to do NO work with Arkansas stones nor drill and tap for a setscrew to limit overtravel as I did on the three RUger 77 rimfire rifles I have (.17 HMR, .22 WRM, .22 LR). This is a great gun right out of the box and in the high grade 547 form will rival any of the 54 series Anschutz sporters. It is as nice as the reproduction Winchester 52C I have (made my Miroku in Japan).
