A great looking and working rifle. I cleaned it and took it right to the range. The iron sights were almost dead on. Just a little elevation adjustment needed. This rifle has the brushed stainless barrel and not the new dull "target grey" finish. It also has the polymer barrel band and trigger guard that all of them ship with since a few years ago. I'm not sure if I care about the plastic parts yet. They're easy/cheap to replace with metal parts if desired. The fiberglass stock is hollow and the buttplate doesn't come off if you want to re-enforce part of it for a swivel stud from the inside. You can do it from the outside though if you're careful. I put wood stock on it I had from another rifle. I believe Ruger has discontinued this model of the 10/22 (1240). And the few remaining dealers that have them in stock are charging at least $40 more before shipping. (Buds includes shipping in their price). If you like the distinctive look of stainless steel combined with a black receiver, hurry up and buy this rifle. You won't find it cheaper elsewhere. Even with shipping and transfer fees, Buds will have the lowest price.
