What a bargin although I believe it has been replacedby the Axis series. Typical Savage accuracy, good trigger and a OK scope for $314. I would buy any caliber available.

First of all, I am pleased with the price and performance of this rifle. The scope it came w/ was a cheap 3-9x Bushnell. I chose to go this route because I wanted this to be an inexpensive, light rifle to take out varmint shooting and knew that purchasing the rifle with rings and scope included was going to be cheaper than buying a scope and rings elsewhere to mount myself. I am please w/ the inexpensive setup and the scope holds it zero well. I have yet to make any adjustments since my initial zero. I did replace the cheap elastic with plastic lens covers with some Butler Creek flip-up covers. The rifle's factory trigger resulted in 1 to 1.5 MOA groupings w/ reloads at 100 yards. I have since replaced the factory trigger w/ a Rifle Basix trigger and am shooting sub-MOA groupings. My first outing with the new trigger resulted in 3 shots that I can cover w/ a dime! It far surpasses my expectations. I had a Savage 22-250 w/ a custom barrel and it matches that same accuracy. I love Savages and this is a nice affordable alternative to their higher-end rifles. It lacks things like the accustock, accutrigger, or 3 stage safety, but is still and accurate and rugged rifle.

I love Savage rifles, but was hesitant at first to order the Edge (now known as Axis from Savage Arms) because there were few reviews or information about it the performance of the gun itself. I am quite surprised at the accuracy I have been able to achieve. The scope it came w/ is a 3-9x Bushnell, nothing fancy, but it works and holds its zero. The only thing I was concerned about was the trigger. It is a much heavier pull than I expected or wanted. My groups at 100 yards were not MOA at first. They were ranging from 1.25 inches to 1.50 inches w/ 55 gr Hornady FMJ projectiles in handloads that I had made. I finally caved and bought a Rifle Basix trigger to replace the factory trigger, and I am so pleased with it. My next trip to the 100 yard range resulted in a grouping so small I could easily cover it w/ a dime. I was still using the same scope, and same ammunition, and weather conditions were nearly identical. I am very pleased w/ the accuracy of this rifle, and am happy w/ my purchase. Again I was hesitant about my purchase, and though some of the parts on the Edge are not identical to the quality of the higher end models, Savage still put a very accurate factory barrel on this series of affordable rifles.
