I took me years to finally come to the decision to get one of these revolvers (44 flavor). And then when I had the money, it wasn't available! So this has been a long time in the coming. Background: I started handgun shoot with a Ruger Single Six in 1980. It was my grandfather's. I certainly shot it more than he ever did! I graduated to a Blackhawk 357 and shot it mostly as a 38. I got into 44's and bought several other revolvers (mostly S&W). I wanted to get a Ruger single action, and here we are. The grip panels (stocks) don't fit as well as I'd like, so I'll refit them down the road. It's wood after all. The barrel/cylinder gap is larger these days than I would expect at 9 thousands, not a huge problem. The cylinder end play is good (too tight and you'll play @#& getting the cylinder in and out!). The trigger needs a little polishing, maybe some lighter springs. The cocking action is a little gritty, but should smooth out with use. I'll probably stone the action to gain a quicker 'break-in', as well as lighter springs (Wolf?). There is some overtravel after the trigger break. I don't detect and stacking and very little creep. Again, to be expected from a production firearm. I'm somewhat of a trigger snob (years of shooting target guns). The quick fix is to lift one side of the trigger return spring off. The sights are adjustable, no issues there. I prefer a smaller gap between the front sight blade and rear sight notch, but this isn't a target gun. I have not had the opportunity to fire many rounds yet. It exhibits the typical single action 'stand up' in your hand upon firing. Ammo is scarce and expensive, so I'll not be plinking away with this blaster like the 22, but I'm sure this will outlast me! It is built like a tank, but balances well in the hand. If you like single action revolvers, you'd have a hard time finding a better new one at this price point. Barrel lengths range from short to long. Blued or Stainless. Pick the one you like! It's your money!

Ruger Super Blackhawk 4 5/8" stainless is a typical Ruger single action...Heavy and built like a tank! Much handier to carry than the 7 1/2" model, but probably not quite as accurate! Since I purchased the gun, I installed a Fiber Optic front sight which was easy with the pinned front sight. This is a fun gun to shoot! The weight helps with the recoil a 44 Mag puts out. What else can I say...I like it!

Shipping was slightly delayed. Gun was recieved in perfect condition. As far as shooting it. It is a Ruger single action 44 mag. 4.62 inch barrel. All I can say is OUCH!!! It bites. Make sure you have a shooters glove just in case.

This was my first order from buds and i will definitely do businesses with them again. They handled the order quickly and smoothly. As for the gun, its utterly reliable and comfortable to shoot for a 44 magnum. The gun had some scratches on the ejector rod housing and on the rear of the frame, but that can be buffed out. The sights were off about 6 inches to the right, but a little tinkering set things right.

I have owned the Super Blackhawk hunter and now this 4 5/8 version. The 4 5/8 Super Blackhawk is by far the handier gun. I have a little over 700 rounds through it so far with no problems whatsoever. About half full house magnums and half .44 special level loads. Gun is built like a tank and is great for the range or the field. If you love the old single action feel and want a reliable weapon from a reputable manufacturer then this Ruger is it!

Fit and finish poor, Grip frame fit poor with long sharp edges. Trigger gritty and long creep. Rough tool marks or no attempt to finish out the casting marks. Very rough ruger! Returned to factory and many of the issues corrected with speedy service. Still many rough tooling marks though.

This a beautiful, powerful, and well-built revolver. I have always wanted a 44 magnum and this gun did not disappoint. The recoil was very manageable because the grips are perfect for revolver shooters with smaller hands. Awesome purchase and Bud's service was excellent. I will gladly do business here in the future. The revolver was everything you'd expect a Ruger to be. It was brand new and in pristine condition. What really stood out was Bud's service, though. I ordered on Sunday and received the revolver today (Wednesday). Bud's stayed in touch with constant updates and got me a tracking no. as soon as it was available. This was my third order from Bud's and probably won't be my last...

Well I finally got to shoot my new .44 mag Blackhawk. I'm sorry to say I'm disappointed with it. :( On the second shot the cylinder locked up due to the "base pin" (cylinder pin) coming loose from the locking base pin assembly and sliding forward alongside the barrel. After pushing it back in several times, we only fired 12 rounds and the problem repeated every few rounds, so we quit and did some research online. There I discovered this seems to be a universal problem with Ruger Single Action revolvers which is fixed with after market parts. I also think the attention to detail in the finish work is not what it used to be. I feel Ruger is rushing guns out the door without sufficient quality control. I'm really surprised to run into these issues on what is a "staple" gun of which probably millions or at least hundreds of thousands have been made. One shouldn't have to buy after market parts for a new gun to make it work. Other than that it's a blast to shoot, literally! We were shooting jugs of water. The 9mm made a little entry hole and a little bigger exit hole. The .45acp FMJ made a bigger entry hole and about the same size exit. The .44 Blackhawk blew the jug to pieces and kicked it about 5 feet into the air and maybe 6 feet backwards! So go ahead... make my day! :)

All the weight is in the cylinder, you take the cylinder out it weighes very little. There were some sharp edges which I sanded, hammer and trigger shrould. Thanks to SS steel don't have to send back. Handle on gun is pretty small if you have big hands. Not trying to blast the gun but 44 special would work fine in this gun. I traded this gun for a Taurus 44, heavy barrel in all (8 3/8"). I bought the gun for 44 mag loads and traded for the same reason. Thanks, RJS

I am extremely impressed with this gun! accuracy is great and handles well , was a little reluctant to purchase a 44 mag because of the recoil horror stories I've heard but it is becoming my favorite revolver. I have other Rugers and have found that they are hard to beat for reliability ,accuracy and best bang for the buck . The first day out with this gun I put a 150 rounds through it and it's a joy to shoot. I now have my eyes on two more ruger 44 mags and as for Buds service it's great and speedy which means a lot to me , I purchased this gun and had it in my hands 6 days later, Buds may not be so local for me but they are becoming my gun dealer with this kind of service "thanks guys"!

I looked all over the web and Bud's had the best price. Also tried their layaway and was kept up to date on each payment without a hitch. Gun is a hoss and very well made. Couldn't be happier.

this has to be one of my favorite pistols ever. its an accurate hand cannon i personaly changed grips to houge overmolds but that was just to save my nuckels.

I've owned many Ruger Single Actions over the years and am especially fond of this one. You can not go wrong with the Super Blackhawk, it can handle about anything you throw at it and is accurate as well.
