Great rifle. Smooth bolt action, nice and heavy. The kick-back isn't bad, no terrible sore shoulder the next day. Plus, the camo stock is well designed. The scope is decent, definitely not 100% but it's a fantastic scope for the price. I would recommend this rifle to anyone.

This is a great little gun. The trigger was a little tough to pull so I put in a Timmney trigger. My son took his first deer with it shortly thereafter. Great price. As always, Buds delivered with no hiccups.

The Rifle is basic no frills system. Although mine did come in camo with a scope. Savage has not put the accutrigger on this model and the trigger pull is quiet stiff. I may have triggers switched out. The bonus is the scope which I had boresighted.. It didn't take many rounds to get zeroed in. I took my time in between shots as to not overheat the barrel when breaking it in. other than the stiff trigger pull, I couldn't find much wrong with the design. It looks like Savage has made an entry level gun that should work well for its intended purpose of bringing down game. It's not a rifle you'll take to the range all day for target shooting. For the money, the Axis XP is one of the best deals out there.

For the money, this is a solid rifle. I bought it as a first hunting rifle (plenty of shooting, just no hunting yet), I think it will fit my needs just fine. Obviously I could have spent more money and probably been really jazzed on something fancier. However this rifle is very utilitarian and will bring down a mule deer or elk just fine. "Bore sighted" is probably a little bit of an overstatement. Needed some tweaking to get it shooting straight at 100yds. Finish is just okay, there are obvious gaps in the dip in areas where it would be difficult to get into. I did a home trigger job on this gun by cutting down the spring and polishing the sear. Pulls and breaks great now. All said and done, it broke in well and will be a great hunting rifle.

This is a great gun. Shipped quickly and came in perfect condition. The bold action is a little loose on this gun but nothing too bad. The stock, finish, action, weight is great. The magazine is a neat design. A lot of reviews put down the scope on this rifle so I was not expecting much. That said I think that the scope is not that bad at all. It took some range time to get it adjusted in but once adjusted it was just fine out to 300 yards. Overall, this is a great package for the price and Bud's has the lowest price I found.

Great gun for the price. Sighted in quickly to a 2 inch group at 100 yards. Worth the money.

Lets get this out of the way first, bud's is awesome. Prices are very reasonable. I would and just did purchase another gun from Buds. Their service is great. It resulted in a very trouble free experience. The purchase options they give you are great. Lets get to the rifle. The rifle was very light in weight. had a good feel to it. i did not find the trigger heavy at all like others have stated. The recoil was very minimal. It has a nice butt stock pad. I installed a nice little bi bop and this thing shoots very well. For the entry level hunter or target shooter I would most recommend this rifle and further more I would very much recommend buds.com

....also this Hunting platform is solid and well built. Savage Arms is a very reputable maker of long guns. The entire weapon is Grade A. The bolt action is consistently smooth and the scope is high quality. After putting a few rounds through this rifle, you will fall in love with its simplicity and STOPPING POWER. I chose the .308 model because of the ease of use and greater degree of handling shooting the .308 round. This rifle will endure some of the most effort free hunting in the neear future. And finally, you can't beat the price. A quality gun, with scope bored and mounted, needs very little adjustment, accurized trigger and all under $400. A STEAL! I would buy this gun for beginners to expert level hunters.

Awesome rifle for the price, best value for the money out there. The scope is decent and comes mounted and bore sighted, had little to adjust to get it zeroed in. I researched online and picked this rifle due to its reviews and Buds had the best price online. Had to wait a total of 9 days to receive my rifle but was worth it to get what I wanted, all the local shops could not get because of the high demand for this gun. The accuracy is very good I have read reports of under 1" MOA at 100 yards and in some cases sub 5/8" groups with the right ammo.
