My Favorite Hobby is Groundhog Hunting. I normally use my trusty Savage 12 / 22-250 HB , but I was looking for a light weight carry around gun for shorter distances. I had read the reviews about the Axis on the Internet dealing with Accuracy and most were pretty good. Two Issues : 1 - Factory Trigger is terrible. Mine came in at 9 pounds. I replaced mine (Example: RifleBasix) and it was a drop in job. There are other "fixes" out there but chose not to for safety reasons. 2 - No after market stock currently available. They all come in Long Actions but that is not a big deal for me. I got the Stainless version over the Matte finish. Just easier to wipe down and keep clean. I've seen the Matte finish and to me they "nick/scratch" easily. It has a round receiver and it's not a Heavy Recoil caliber so cheap Weaver bases and rings work just fine and keeps the weight down. Factory Ammo that I tried (Federal 55g sp) did not shoot well. My Handload of 55 gr V-max grouped .75 @100 yrds. I have about 50 rounds through it. Took it out and shot 2 GroundHogs at 233/190 yrds and dropped them. I'm sure if I keep working on a handload for this Gun it will shoot sub .5 @ 100 easily. This gun shoots better than ones I have paid 2x as much.

Sorry, meant to include this in my last post - The info is wrong on the website - the magazine holds 4 rounds.

Great rifle. I picked one up over weekend and put it through it's paces after a quick cleaning. Once I sighted my scope in, it was consistently shooting 1" groups at 100 yds (even a couple under 1/2"). I know alot of people knock this rifle since it is does not have the Accutrigger and a cheap stock (yes, it is - but for the price you can expect a beautiful handcarved walnut stock), but it is a very accurate rifle at a fraction of the cost for "higher-end" rifles. The trigger is heavy (mine measured at 7.8 pounds), but after a little trigger work, I will have a great rifle.
