Bought this gun for it's nostalgic good looks and because I didn't have a .45-70 in my collection. Haven't fired it yet but the fit and finish is impeccable. The action is smooth as silk and the attention to detail is apparent. I typically only buy 100% USA but even though this is an Italian company they have a factory in the USA. I just might hang it over the fireplace permanently.

This was my first purchase with Buds. The gun was "as described" per Chiappa's product description and it was everything I expected. Very, very well-made and nice-looking firearm. Functions exactly as it should. Buds has the purchasing, FFL, processing and shipping down to an art. They delivered when and exactly as they described during the purchasing steps. I rate the product and my experience with Buds as a very solid 10 out of 10!!

I just received my Taylor's & Co. (Chiappa) .45-70 Model 1886. First of all, this is a very beautiful firearm with great fit and finish. It is a very heavy rifle - but to be expected with a full octagonal barrel. The action is very smooth for a brand new lever gun; which tells me with a couple of boxes of ammo it should be super smooth! I was originally looking for a Winchester 1886 Deluxe CCH but it's almost impossible to find. This one is very close in quality although I have not fired it yet. As far as the negative review by the same person on here, I can find NOTHING wrong with this rifle. A most excellent rifle and a big thanks to Bud's for such fast service and unbeatable price :) After much searching, I still saved $200 through Bud's! I am more than satisfied.....

First, Buds is great people to business with. Second, this rifle exceeds all expectations. The action works slicker than deer guts on a door knob. It fed three different brands of ammo without a hiccup. Sights were spot on at 100 yards. I could hit a basketball sized rock from a standing offhand position. No problLm. last but not least, this is a very good looking firearm.

Sorry for the back to back entry. I just thoroughly looked the rifle over after it was returned from warranty and there are scratches on the receiver that were not there when I sent it in for warranty. It looks as though the jig the rifle was put in while it was being worked scratched the receiver on both side front to back. This is disgusting.

Since there was no way to know that this rifle was defective prior to completing the FFL transfer, I was forced to utilize the manufacturer's warranty return process. I sent the rifle back under warranty and was surprised to have the rifle returned in about 2 weeks. Unfortunately, the rifle still does not cycle factory ammunition. I can see that some parts were changed but now the action locks up tight with the cartridge stuck in the action. Additionally, the front sight fell off as I took the rifle out of the packaging. This rifle is actually worse after the warranty work. I am stunned that they would ship a rifle that locks up tight. This tells me that it was not even tested to ensure that it cycled a cartridge properly. I am lost on what to do now. I have a $1100 piece of junk. DO NOT BUY THIS RIFLE, IT IS JUNK. This is shameful. I would be suspect regarding anyt firearm from Chiapa and would also be concerned that the warranty is worthless as evidenced by the fact that this rifle had been sent in for repair and was sent back with testing that it would cycle properly. I really do not know where to go now as I cannot return it to Bud's per their policy. I did understand this policy prior to purchase. I still have not fired this rifle yet, as it still does not function correctly.

Product is defective. Will not cycle factory ammo at all. Carrier hook dislodges from carrier when attempting to cycle action. Either the rifle was not assembled correctly from the factory or the overall build quality is junk. I am hoping the defect is due to an assembly problem from the factory. Unfortunately I had no way to find this type of defect prior to completing the transfer. Nice looking rifle on the outside, the wood and finish on the outside exceeded expectation. I have not fired it yet. Ordering from Buds was fast as always.
