If you are looking for a good reliable hunting rifle, then I would consider this rifle. After setting up the scope and zeroing it in at 100 yards, I was able to get a 3/4 inch shot group using Hornady Whitetail 150 grain. The trigger needed a little work, but was easy to do. And for only being $300.00 dollar rifle, you can't beat it. I now have 3 Savage Axis rifles, and all 3 are reliable and accurate.

I bought this rifle to use with a silencer. It's only good for inside a hundred yards. Shooting 2 maybe 3 moa. Very poor barrel design I believe contributes to the poor accuracy especially with the weight of the silencer. I was so disappointed with the accuracy of this gun trying different ammo and checking for loose scope. I bought a different rifle. I went with the savage model 10 308 fcp-k 24 inch . MUCH BETTER. I know it's in a different price category but being all over the paper at 100 yards is not acceptable to me. Not worth the 300 bucks.

Great gun at a great price. Bud's is a great outfit to do business with.

I'll start by saying I absolutely love this gun, and the price just backs it up, the finish / bluing on it is a bit thin, so a little moisture or touching it with your fingers without wiping it results in minor surface rust that wipes off easily (only negative about it). Although its very sturdy in my book and do no be afraid of the 20" Barrel, it is very accurate and the possibility of a silencer or Muzzle brake is a very fun idea. I paid $7.50 for Weaver 2 piece scope mounts, put a $70 dollar walmart scope that came off a Mosin project i'm working on (CenterPoint 4-16x40 Adjustable object / Illuminated reticle Mildot), the $40 walmart bipod (also off the mosin) and took 2 boxes of TulAmmo .308 150grain FMJ (Nothing tells you more about a gun than cheap ammo). Took about 5 shots to sight it in bullseye at 25yds (knew it would be way high at 100) so before I could sight it in at 100yds my father in law teased me about taking a cheap shot at an 8" steel target we have hanging at 300yds, since I knew it would be high at 100 I aimed dead at it and cut her loose, too my surpise I got a *ting* about 2 seconds after squeezing it off. So, I fired the remaining 4 shots (The add is off, it holds one in the chamber and 4 in the mag) and hit 5/5 on an 8" steel gong at 300yds (range finder said 291 if your technical). Any rifle that I can put dirt cheap optics on and even hit an 8" circle at 300 yards once! with TULAMMO! is a darn good rifle in my book, much less 5/5! Can't wait for quality optics and match grade ammo, plan on stretching her out and mounting a muzzle break, happy shopping!
