Excellent training rifle for young children, fits my grandson perfect, rifle is accurate and easy to operate.

This is a fine little rifle for young people to learn to shoot with it's just the right size for my two grandsons five and seven year old.

VERY lightweight, great trigger, single shot, amazingly accurate. This was the perfect "first gun" for my daughters...they both started around age 7 with this. My only criticism would be the safety is a bit stiff for the kids to disengage. Such an accurate, packable rifle, that it would make a decent survival type gun for adults.

I bought this for my son. It works great for our needs. It was able to hit a 6" gong at 100 yds with the iron sites, so seems like it works well enough. I chose it over some of the other youth guns because the bolt and action are like other bolt action rifles, unlike some youth guns that require a separate cocking mechanism. We are happy. It's definitely a good starter gun. The transaction was easy as well.

Savage Rascal- absolutely fantastic well-made and accurate. My youngster loves it, especially since I put a 4x scope on it. He enjoyed the peep sight, but loves the scope. Great trigger, easy to load, easy to fire, easy to clean. A full-function bolt. Many hundreds of rounds, many ammo brands, not a single issue.

This is a very nice gun for small, beginning shooters. It is very light weight, just under 3 pounds. Very short length of pull, about 12". The rear peep site also helps beginning shooters to get lined up properly on their target. The single shot bolt action makes it safe for beginning shooters. Very ahppy with this purchase.

Fun rifle to shoot kids loved it! First fifty rounds not a single issue until the end the casing would not extract. Son and I were using different ammo and could not figure out the problem. We left the range disappointed and thought the extractor was broken, so I had a gunsmith look at it, and he stated that it looked good. I cleaned the rifle and returned to the range. Son and I began to run CCI, and Federal Match without a single issue. I then began to use the Remington Golden bullet HP and noticed that it was hard to insert into the chamber and when fired it failed to eject. In conclusion there were no mechanical problems with the rifle it's just picky on the ammunition that is fed. I will mount a scope on it, son and I did not care for the iron sights.

First of all, hats off to BUDS on speedy delivery. I ordered this nice little rifle at 7:30 on a Wednesday night. At 10:15 Friday morning it was at my local gun shop! This Savage is perfect for the little beginning shooter, and still usable for an adult looking to save on pack weight.

I bought this for my Granddaughter, who I previously bought a .22 Crickett. There is no camparison - the Savage Rascal is an infinitely better starter gun than the Crickett. The Savage has better sights, better trigger, is easier to load and the bolt works much easier and smoother. And, of course, Bud's service is excellent.

I bought two of these as Christmas presents for my two oldest sons to teach them how to shoot. I don't think I could have made a better choice. They are built well and are solid shooters. They are a perfect fit my 7 & 9 year old sons and a great training platform.

Just picked up this little Rascal from Buds, and I was very pleased with their service throughout the process. Needed a good pack rifle chambered in .22LR and I think this fits the bill. Love everything about it! Stock feels good, finish looks great out of the box. Has the fantastic Accutrigger, and it doesn't budge when the safety's engaged. Probably won't put a scope on it because I like the iron sights so much. Has a good rear peep sight that's easily adjustable. Plus it doesn't break the bank. If you're looking for a good, safe gun to teach the kids how to shoot, or something to bring along with you on a camping trip, this gun is perfect.

Purchased this rifle to teach my soon how to shoot. Its an awesome starter rifle and couldn't have asked for anything better. Buds was awesome as well. strongly recommend.
