This is exactly what I wanted. I wanted an inexpensive shotgun for turkey hunting in western Penn. I intended to paint it out of the box. The reviews about it being heavy mean nothing to me. This is a great purchase. The purchasing process through Bud's and my local FFL were seamless.

Nice looking gun. Marked H&R not New England. Solid gun though and will probably become even smoother with use.

The gun arrived quickly and upon taking it out of the box, first it was packaged quite well. Had some assembly to do but was easy. The gun feel solid and no play anywhere and is heavier than most shotguns I have had. The finish is satin and it comes of easily, but that can be fixed no problem. I mounted a Truglo with a diamond retical and bore sighted it. the elevation was right on and the windage was of a little. The scope mounted very easily with just a screwdriver. Over all from being made in China it is very solid and well made. There are a few rough spots on the barrel but won't hurt the performance any. All I have to do I take it out and shoot and line it up (don't for see any problems) I have to wait until the snow goes away in Northern Maine.

I ordered this item in February of 2018 and I am quite pleased with it so far. It arrived in insufficient packaging because the stock had some marks on it which fortunately came off fairly easily with some wood mark remover. The packaging the np-228 was shipped in lacked any foam on the top. The gun itself is a very good value for the money however it does have some drawbacks. For one it is kind of heavy for a shotgun; it weighed in at about 7.4 pounds just as listed. For two, the finish isn't the best; it scratches very easily, even from your fingernail. Another thing is that the thing is a little difficult to put together again after you take it apart. The action is pretty smooth. It is nice that it has a modded shotgun choke. The wood is very nice. The recoil isn't too bad. I have no real issues with it other than it being a little heavy, the finish quality and with it being difficult to put together. All in all, it is a nice firearm despite the drawbacks.

I could of not have been happier with everything. Team Buds super fast service was able to get my Pardner pump in no time. The gun is well built as Harrington and Richardson always does. I'm a Remington guy, but I really like this shotgun.

For the money, I am not sure you could find a better pump 12 vs. It is obviously an 870 copy, and in some ways I prefer it over the old standard Remington. It is a little tight out of the box, but if you rack i5 like you mean it you are fine. Fit and finish is very good, and the trigger is very respectable. A few complaints... the packaging needs a redesign or some added padding. The end of the barrel was resting against the stock and chewed it up a bit. I did not catch it at time of pickup, and the company did offer to replace the whole gun, but I decided to live with it. I also do not love the shape of the pump itself, but is prob because I am used to a different shape. Still, for under $200! No brainer!

Picked one of these up last week. Great shotgun for the money. I've put about 50 rounds through it without issue. I was a little disappointed that it does not have the grooved forend as pictured. Buds service was excellent as always.

Bought this shotgun for bird hunting on a friends ranch. Far exceeded my expectations for the price. Smooth operation, zero issues, and after 50 clay pigeons... Accurate too! As always, seamless transaction with Buds.

This gun is a very good value, if you want a nice hunting gun or a defensive shotgun, it will do the trick. As far as performance goes I haven't had a single issue, I have put about 300 rounds through without a glitch. There are a few things you may want to consider with this weapon before you make the purchase though. For some reason the first few times I stripped this weapon it was incredibly tough to put back together, I don't know what the deal was but the slide took me a good half hour to get back in place and the trigger guard pins took quite a bit of time to fit back in too. The more times I've taken it apart, the better it is getting, but it seems like there was a break in period for sure. Secondly, 870 accessories don't fit as well some may make out. They fit, but not how they should, they are always a little off/ you have to alter them a little at the least. Thirdly, Its difficult to get replacement/accessory barrels. I got this 28" version an its looking like it will be a HUGE hassle to get a shorter barrel. You have to send the whole gun back to the the manufacturer and they fit it with a shorter barrel, and according to the website they only offer barrels down to 22" (870 barrels won't work FYI). It will definitely get the job done, and looks really slick, but just consider these things before you make the purchase

I just got my 12 gauge H&R Pardner Pump shotgun yesterday. The shotgun appears to be a hefty, well-made, high-quality firearm and will handle 2.75 inch and 3 inch Magnum shells. The price for a solid, 12 gauge pump action shotgun in the $200.00 price range is a real value. Really, the only drawbacks for the Pardner are the facts that the gun is made by Hawk Industries in China and that you have to ship the gun back to the H&R service department to fit another barrel to it. Barrels are available on the H&R website. Although H&R is owned by Remington, Remington 870 barrels will NOT fit the Pardner (the 870 barrel ring is attached too low on the barrel). Remington and Mossberg choke tubes will fit the Pardner. I have yet to take it to the range but I hope to do so on my next day off. I am very satisfied with my purchase. I gave it 4 stars because it is (unfortunately) made in China and getting replacement barrels can be a hassle.

Great gun. Love it. choke might be a little tight for clays. Capacity is actually 5 + 1.

For the price you can't beat this one. Better looking than the Remington Express and shoots just as well. I have had one for over a year and a lot of shell through it, it never fails. Strips and cleans like a dream.
