This thing is a real pleasure to shoot! I've had mine nearly a year now, and I've not regretted it a moment. Feels very nice in your hand, even with the Ribber grips, although I had issues with the trigger guard slapping my middle finger, which I quickly fixed with a set of Hogue Monogrips. It doesn't fit quite as low in the hand, but the difference isn't enough to cause any problems. I'm shooting open sights and I'm easily keeping all five rounds inside a coffee cup at twenty five yards...could just about do it at fifty, but I don't practice out past 25 with this gun. The recoil is very manageable, although it is definately there...but anything from the average load down to .44 special is quite comfortable...no worse than a 1911...well, maybe a hot load in a 1911...but still...
Holsters are a little difficult to come by, but they are available...simplyrugged up in Wasilla, AK makes holsters for them, nice pancake holsters that fit nicely. I load mine up with .44sp and CCW it with the Sourdough holster and inside-out straps. Hides nicely, and it weighs less than my .45acp. Match the holster and revolver with some speed strips and you've got a pretty good set up. Just a word on the holster...I run on a tight budget, and had to really work to talk myself into it...but it was worth EVERY penny...just like this revolver.
If you're looking for a heavy load, heavy use gun, however, you may want to look on...this revolver was not made to handle the top end of the pressure scale, nor was it made to handle longer bullets. The cylinder is a hair shorter than on, say, a Super Blackhawk, so once you get far above 300 grain bullets you start having bullets hang out the end of the cylinder...Keith bullets also present a problem. But for a backup deer or bear gun, or a back packing gun, this thing is the cat's pajamas, especially at the Bud's price!
