I bought this pistol for protection and because I trusted Smith & Wesson. I have shot alot of guns, some of which were supposedly "top of the line" and very exspensive. I can say without a doubt, this is the biggest bang for your buck you will find. I go to the range at least once a week and shoot at least 100 rounds each time. I have never had a jam, not one, and I have shot over 1000 through this gun. It is comfortable in your hand, supprisingly accurate, and well balanced. Some people are downing this pistol for one reason or the other. That's fine, they can spend 800.00 on a pistol that will not perform as good as this one. I love the gun. The trigger is a little stiff, but I like it like that. If you don't, it can be changed. If I had to think of one negative, I would say that S&W should have put a saftey on it. I wish that they made this madel in a .22 so the range wouldn't be so expensive. Try one.
