This was my first gun purchase from Bud's, and I must say they are by far one of the easiest companies to deal with. The gun itself is an absolute pleasure to shoot. It has now become my most favorite out of my gun collection. The Sigma series are basically a Glock copy, in both design and weight. A friend of mine has a Glock 9mm and paid nearly $540, while I only paid $325 for my Sigma .40 overall ($300 Bud's special sale price + $25 FFL fee), so now I've got something nice to rub in his nose for nearly half the price :)
I want to make a special mention on the trigger, as I'm not biased when it comes to my firearms. Due to the Glock vs S&W lawsuit back in the 90's, S&W had to change their design in the Sigma to comply with Glock's demands. Thus came the 10 pound trigger pull. Coming from a man of average strength, I had no problems with the trigger pull...in fact the first round I fired hit dead-center of my target at 10 yards. Now after firing around 30 rounds, your hand will get tired and accuracy will become an issue. If you're looking for an excellent, well crafted handgun for personal protection then look no further. In most cases of self defense, you won't need 30 rounds to protect yourself...and if you indeed need 30 rounds, then perhaps you should invest in a shotgun instead, lol. When I purchase a handgun as in the Sigma .40, I use it for home defense and for casual target practice; and since I generally shoot 100 rounds during each outing, I decided to lighten the trigger pull on it by removing one of the two springs in the striker assembly. I also used some 600 grit sandpaper to smooth down the metal pieces in the striker assembly and make the trigger feeling almost like silk. Some people are over paranoid and will claim that by removing the outer striker spring that you will have misfires. So far after doing the trigger work I can vouch for 200 rounds going off without a single problem. I am in no way a gunsmith and did this work in only 30 minutes. If you're a fairly intelligent human being that has the knowledge to use a small punch and sandpaper, you won't have any problems with your gun after reassembly.
Glock fanatics just love to criticize and bash this gun to no end, so if you're looking for a personal opinion always be sure to grab it from an unbiased person. When in comparison to a Glock .40, the answer is quite simple really: would you want to pay nearly $600 for the overpriced name, or around 30 minutes of your spare time and save nearly $300 with the Sigma? And besides, you just can't beat the pure beauty of a stainless slide :)
