This is my fourth firearm; three through on-line services; the first through Buds Guns. Bud’s on-line service is trouble-free, easy and reliable. I opted against the Cash discount in order to expedite the purchase process. I still paid about the same or less than other on-line services or over-the-counter. The Cash discount, lay-a-way options and free shipping are excellent incentives. This experience was trouble-free. Buds' e-mail updates and having account information readily available through Buds website are excellent. Once the weapon was acknowledged through UPS, tracking was reassuring. Despite a severe weather delay (also messaged by Buds on-line store), the firearm arrive at the appointed FFL dealer in the promoted three business-day time frame. The twenty dollar transfer fee was worth the whole purchase experience.
Upon receiving the firearm at the FFL dealer, I field-stripped the weapon for a thorough inspection on- site. Unlike my PT809, the PT92 did required immediate cleaning upon arriving home. Hence, the notion of an all-metal weapon shipped from Brazil rang true for the first time. I never shoot “right out of the box” in the first place. I have always thoroughly inspected and action checked each weapon before leaving a dealer or going to the range. Cleaning and adding a touch of gun oil from the start is always advisable.
Given some early reviews through Buds and other on-line sources, I was a bit apprehensive about fit and finish of the PT92. Upon inspection, the PT92 is tight, well-machined with close tolerances throughout. D/S trigger action, slide motion, magazine release and locking, safety and de-cocking were all smooth. Field stripping on-site was also simply and quick. Reassembly was equally trouble-free. Magazines have a bit of a gap from the end of the grip when engaged. I would prefer that tolerance to be more finite but certainly not a problem on the range.
I did immediately change to Hogue rubber grips after the cleaning process was completed. This is a personal preference, not a fault of the manufacturer or the weapon. I also have Talon grips on my polymer firearms. Again, this is a personal preference and one that enhances my feel and experience at the range.
For those enthusiasts who shoot full-frame firearms, you know the experience from the range. No problems with various 9mm manufacturers, discharge, ejection of shell, etc.. Grouping is exactly what I expected from a full-frame firearm. The PT92 is accurate, consistent and a reliable performer.
Buds Gun Shop and Taurus have been a superior experience. I highly recommend the on-line process and weaponry.
