I'm a bit disappointed with this gun. First Bud's didn't send what I ordered. I ordered the 911ss and received the one with the rail under the barrel. Well, I thought so what, it'll be OK, it's more expensive anyway. Well It doesn't fit a normal 1911 holster, that's what! Then the condition of the bolt face of the slide was atrocious. They must adjust headspace with a tiny belt sander. The center of the bolt face was sanded/ground crooked and angled as well as recessed in the slide quite a ways. There were sanding/grinding nicks on the slide at the ejection port that they tried to sand off, but that didn't work out either. Contacted Taurus warranty and they were very helpful, sent a will call FedEx next day, Friday afternoon. Next Friday morning it was back with a new slide and barrel. It wasn't perfect either, but not something I can't remedy myself. Now to the range. The first slide had nice big white dot sights, Knovaks. The new ones are also Knovak, but tiny little barely visible pale whitish dots. Poor at best. Then shooting over a bench and bags using the normal sight picture, same as explained in the Taurus manual, it shoots 6" low at 25'. Contacting Knovak they tell me the sights are proprietary to Taurus and no standard Knovak sight will fit the Taurus dovetail without machining new dovetails and it already has the shortest front sight available from Knovak. I faxed Taurus warranty a few days back, didn't have the patience to wait on hold for 1/2 hour or so to talk with someone about the sights. As of yet, no response, not really expecting one either.
So far, disappointed, wrong gun from Bud's, sent back ot Taurus for warranty before even firing it, now it shoots 6" low. What's to love about it! If I had it to do over I would never buy it again. My AMT, Witness and my son's Rock Island and Llama are better shooters.
I guess I'm stuck with it!
