Just got a new Ruger MKIII 22/45 from Bud's.
Wanted a gun for the range that I could actually afford to shoot.
Very happy with Bud's price and delivery.
Not so thrilled with the 22/45.
Too many safety features for a .22 plinker.
(My gun is the 4" barrel, std. sights.)
Magazine disconnect, internal lock, loaded chamber indicator.
I suspect the loaded chamber indicator was causing the jams my gun was having.
(The empty casing was getting jammed sideways, on top of the incoming round.)
4 different mags, 4 different types of ammo, and I couldn't get through 1 mag without a jam.
After about 150 rounds, I stopped and cleaned it, and buffed the chamber and ramp.
Same jam, every single mag for the next 50 rounds.
So, I spent another $12 on a Volquartsen Exact Edge extractor, and went another 200 rounds without a single jam!
Now the Ruger shoots like the previous ones I've owned.
Wish it had been 100% out of the box.
