If your looking for a 1911 style pistol, this is it! Fit and finish are excellent. I know someone who owns a Colt Gold Cup which this meets or exceeds in every regard and costs a lot less than used models of that type. You get what you pay for and from my perspective, this is a good investment. John Browning designed some awesome firearms and S&W does an excellent job with this production version. He would be impressed.

This is my first 1911 and I couldn't be happier. I was a little worried about how tight the slide and frame fit are, but I made the first range trip today and put over 200 rounds through it without a hiccup (mix of Aguila and Blazer FMJ). It definitely lives up to S&W's reputation of reliability right out of the box - can't wait to put it to the test as ammo becomes more available. The factory mags worked every bit as well as the Wilson 47D's I bought. My other gun is a Glock, which I have over 1200 rounds through - I was shooting better groups with the 1911 after the first couple mags.
