I had been using Walther P22'ws as concealed carry for wife and I as wife could operate slide by hand and with .22lr HV or super velocity ammo the pistols had 10 rounds of good power and were double/single action for loaded chamber, uncocked hammer, safety off carry with first shot double action with good trigger pull and second through 10 th shot good pull single action. Pistols functioned flawlessly and are accurate at 7-25 yards perfectly adequately.
I wanted a 9 MM locked breech gun, then got FN-P9 which is DA/SA with decock lever, first shot DA or can hit the round again if it does not go off, second shot SA with both trigger pulls quite decent...and I am an old bullseye shooter sensitive to single stage match triggers. FN-P9 is GREAT and with 16 rounds of +p AMMO is plenty powerful. I have 1911's to compare in .45 ACP and in my opinion 9 x 19 is powerful enough.
But FN-P9 is not small. What to do.
I found Kahr CW-9 wiht stainless 3.5 barrel and polymer frame with 7+1 9x19 capacity with strikker fired action (smooth double action) and it isw the SAME SIZE AS WALTHER P-22, fits in same cross draw paddle holster, and in practice at 7 yards the double action pull IS JUST AS EASY AND ACCURATE AND FAST as a good DA/SA pistol. I was skeptical but after buying one and going throuigh 500 rounds of Wolf 115 ammo I am most satisfied wiht this as a small but really powerful concealed carry gun. Have never had a failure to fire and will have to rack the slide in such a case, so have wife continuing to carry the Walther P-22 .22 lr gun DA/SA but if you want a good shooting, easy to operate, accurate and powerful concealed carry pistol, the Kahr CW-9 is the way to go. Yes it is available in .40 and .45 if you really MUST have a cannon, but my feeling is IF you ever have to fire this gun in anger better you can hit with it the first time.....9 x 19 will insure you do do.
