Bud's Gun Shop was excellent! Super fast shipping and product was as described. I absolutely love this gun. Very smooth feel when firing. I have put about 100 rds down range with no issues what so ever. Gun has chewed up every type of ammo I've put through it. It is a bit top heavy but nothing that impedes my ability to shoot and shoot comfortably. I feel 100% confident using this gun as a CCW. Buy this gun with confidence!

I was looking for something a little more concealable, but wasn’t really comfortable with smaller compacts. The American compact has a nice solid feel to it. This is not my first Ruger and it is exactly what I’ve come to expect, reliable, accurate and a great value for the money!

I got my Ruger American about 3 months ago and I have only run between 200-300 rounds throughout it, but I used every kind of ammo I could get my hands on 12-17 rounds at a time. I loaded up both mags and went to work. The gun had no issues with any ammo brands and I experienced no ftf/fte issues. The gun was bigger than I expected and certainly heavier, but manageable. I carry this gun in my pocket right now as I haven't found a holster I like and it is a little big for that, but I'm looking forward to more comfortable days once I find the holster I'm looking for. I changed the back strap for the smallest one (there were 3 in the case) and it feels pretty good. I like the extra weight as it feels solid and seems to help the gun feel less snappy. Take down is a breeze and reassembly is a snap. Mine shoots down and left a tiny bit, but again I need to run a few more rounds through it before I say anything bad about that. I'm a pretty big 1911 fan so I'm still getting used to this new piece. I really like the look of this weapon and the fact that I can change it by changing the piece on the bottom of the magazine. Great look and feel from a very sharp gun and Buds was fast and accurate as always.

Probably the most comfortable fitting pistol I've ever held. Almost feels like it's molded for your hand. Very soft recoil, smooth trigger, and very accurate. I took half a star away because it kept jamming when shooting federal aluminum casing fmj, but worked flawless with brass casing. Also took half a star cause after 200 rounds the trigger safety starts to pinch your trigger finger. Comes with two mags, 12 round and 17 round extension, also comes with a flat base magazine plate, in case you wanna changes from the pinky extension for concealed carry.

This gun was love at first shot! My local range had it as gun of the month for its members to check her out, so I did, and ordered mine the day after. I have shot other Rugers, Glocks, H&Ks, S&Ws, this one can only be compared with what I experienced with my high performance revolver: I had an instant connection. Shots to the point up to 15 yards (and then I assume it is me, not the gun), it has a great grouping. And I love how easy you can field strip the pistol. No tools needed at all, and all fits right back together without needing an extra hand, etc. It is a little bit big for a compact, but all the precision and handling makes you take this small disadvantage. I highly recommend this gun.

This is a nice gun. Only thing is Ruger should have sent this gun with 2 12 round mags. The 17 round mag gave me some problems. The 12 round mag worked with no problems I put 12+1 and worked fine every time. Thinking about getting the 45 ACP in this hand gun.

The Ruger American 9mm is phenomenal. It is one of the best built pistols I've ever owned or handled. The first thing that stands out is the weight. It is substantial but manageable and that extra weight aids in controlling recoil. When shooting the weight isn't remotely noticeable. In fact, I prefer the weight of the Ruger when compared to other pistols in it's class. It's more solid and doesn't suffer from the plasticky feel like most pistols despite being a polymer handgun. It feels like solid metal even though you know it's not. My wife is petite lean and athletic with small hands but also lean longer fingers. She absolutely loves the Ruger largely for the comfortable ergonomics and doesn't mind the extra weight. In fact, she prefers the weight of it when she compared it to other firearms. She found it easier to fire and control more than the M&P Shield which most women tend to prefer. Not her. She's a major fan of this Ruger Model. It's weight doesn't make it a first choice for concealed carry. However, a very good holster is paramount and will negate the increased weight it has. We put two magazines under a full 500 rounds the first time out to the range and it performed flawlessly. Not a single jam, failure to feed nor eject. We shot 135g, 124g, 115g, 115g Syntech as well as 147 grain hollow points with no trouble whatsoever. I have large wide palms with moderate to long slender fingers. I found the Ruger American fits into my hands as if born with it there. I attribute that to the serpentine-like swell of the rear interchangeable back strap. I opted for the large grip strap which is ultra comfortable. It sits right into my palm and doesn't move around even with rapid fire. Despite the aggressive stippling found on other pistols of its class, The Ruger American simply nailed the ergonomics perfectly in shape more-so than texture. The gun just sits where you hold it and doesn't move about under fire. The ergonomics relative to the weight distribution which perceptibly seems just front of the trigger, makes it flawlessly balanced when fully loaded. Therefore, the wrist doesn't tire when aligning your sights. The only negative about this particular model is the safety. It's mildly bothersome but not a nuisance. It's simply unnecessary and I tend to not even bother using it since it has simply been knocked down thru general holstering and unholstering. Frankly, it's a safety such as this is an unhealthy crutch a safe handler need bother with. I will be getting the Ruger American 45ACP the first opportunity I can. I love this gun THAT much. Excellent service by Bud's as this was my first ONLINE gun order. Perfect service. Thank you.

I received my Ruger a few days ago. Although I've not bee to the range with it yet, I can say it seems like a very well built piece. The gun does seem a bit heavier than my other compacts, but the weight is easy to manage and get used to. The only gripe I have so far is that that mag release seems difficult to engage. It's stiff and requires quite a bit of pressure to release the mag. Overall this, so far seems like very well built gun that would stand up to all sorts of harsh conditions. Because of its extra weight, I think, if I carry it as my ccw in a rotation with some of my other pieces, I may use a shoulder hosted for it. I highly recommend this gun as a great addition to your collection or as your first gun. It's a fantastic piece. My experience with Bud's has been a pleasure... purchase and transfer was a picture perfect business transaction.
