Ruger LCP II 380 ACP Pistol
[3750]

Ruger LCP II
1. This pistol doesn't sting the hand as bad as the original LCP. I think this is due to the slightly wider grip. Also, the texturing Ruger used is aggressive enough to grip the hand without blistering the skin. It's enough that I don't have to keep adjusting my grip with every shot.
2. The sights are much better than the original LCP: taller and serrations on the back sight.
3. The trigger: mine is a eight pound, two stage, single action trigger that ends in a crisp break. The lack of over travel is due to a little nub in the trigger guard that physically stops movement at the end of the pull. I would say 60% for take up, 30% stacking, and the break happens in the last 10%. This equates to a 'good' trigger in my opinion. Also, the trigger safety doesn't hurt my finger.
4. Last round hold open. They used an interesting solution in order to get this feature on such a small gun. What Ruger did was increase the height of the magazine follower so that on the last round it would pop up into the chamber slightly, thus catching an extension of the slide lock bar and pushing it upward. Hopefully Ruger will sell aftermarket magazine followers so original LCP mags can be modified.
5. Take down pin: it's easy to get down on Ruger for this but it is a little unfair. It did keep the cost down. Also, this isn't a gun that I'm going to go shoot 500 rounds through in one session. My cleanup can wait until later. The pin has no effect on function so I'm ok with it.
6. The slide is very easy to rack, very similar to the original. Maybe even better because of the extra slide serrations.
7. Magazine ejection: this pistol spits them out fairly well. The big thing here is that I don't inadvertently hit the button while shooting left handed. That was the big drawback for the LC9S as a CCW: every 3rd round I hit the button. Not so in this case. The LCP II button placement is different enough that that it misses my trigger finger.
8. Bud's service was superb. Ordered online on a Tuesday with the option of picking it up at the Bud's in Lexington KY. The gun was ready for pickup on Thursday. Simply put, outstanding service!
