Savage MKIIBV 22LR AT HB LAM

$307.00

I bought one of these from Bud's a few weeks ago. I've been shooting for over 40 years, but this is the first Savage I ever bought. And I'm major impressed. The first thing that caught my eye was the recessed barrel crown - really nicely done. And the bluing is just beautiful. The laminate stock adds some heft to the rifle, but I wouldn't call it heavy. I'd call it "just right." It's nicely checkered too. The monte carlo profile on the stock gets your eye up where it needs to be for a scope, and the rifle as a whole just works. It's a beaut.

It's an accurate little sucker too. The Accutrigger's been beat to death in reviews, so I'm not going to say much about it. Other than it's way sweet and provides a nice contribution to accuracy. When I was sighting in the scope at 25 yards a fly landed on my target. This little Savage erased him - if that tells you anything about its accuracy.

One thing I couldn't find any mention of prior to purchase was whether or not the barrel is free-floated. That's the first thing I checked when I took it out of the box, and it is indeed a free-floated barrel. And that also makes its contribution to accuracy.

Yup. This was my first Savage. It won't be my last. Seems you get a lot of gun for the money with Savage.
