I became interested in this gun based, primarily, on the way it looked. I was encouraged by the reviews at Bud’s, but they were old, compared to others I found in forums. After doing a lot of research online I had some reservations. Online forums had complaints of jamming and only able to use one kind of ammo. In the end, it was the reviews at Bud’s that convinced me to buy it. They also had the best price I could find anywhere plus they had it in stock.
This was my first firearm purchase from them and I was pleased with the way they handled it. They were ready to ship it very quickly, but had to wait a couple of days for the California DOJ to approve the shipment. After arrival, and the 10-day waiting period, I picked it up. I don’t know if I had to, but I took it home and cleaned it first.
The next day I went to the range with the expensive ammo (based on the “experts” in the forums) and other “cheaper” ammo I had at home. I shot the first 30 rounds of expensive ammo without a problem. I got brave and then tried my other ammo. It worked perfectly with EVERYTHING I used, including the “less expensive” ammo. No Jams! The gun has (real wood) walnut handles and comes in a case with two magazines and a (California DOJ Approved) lock. New, it holds eight rounds, plus one in the chamber (if you like to do that). After about 1,500 rounds though, I can now put nine rounds in the magazine. I bought two additional magazines from Beretta. Bud’s doesn’t sell them and you get a better price if you buy two. I do get some FTF now and then, but I believe that is the fault of the ammo. I am sure I have had a jam or two out of the 1500+ rounds, but honestly can't remember when.
I do have one negative (sort of) comment though. The magazine could have easily be configured to hold ten rounds (or more if you are lucky enough to live in one of those states), but Beretta didn’t do that. Other than that…it is a great gun. I know it is a lot more expensive than other .22s, certainly a whole lot more than my old Ruger Mark II cost, but I am really glad I bought it. It looks good, fun (and inexpensive) to shoot, VERY accurate and easy to take down and clean.
