Kel-Tec P-11 9mm 10 Round Blue
[P11]
$299.00
by James A Date Added: Saturday 26 May, 2012
I'm really happy with this as a small 9mm for a concealed carry. This gun fit better than expected out of the box in my medium to large sized hand. I added a Hogue small rubber grip and a Kel-tec grip extension for the the bottom of the mag but that's it. With these two mods, I really haven't noticed it's small size after that, other than in a good way. This is an extremely comfortable carry gun. I've even thrown it in a hydration belt and run with it. Mostly though I am still surprised by how well this Kel-Tec shoots. And I mean it really shoots! No doubt the trigger pull is serious DAO heavy and long. But I like the safety aspect it gives me in an all day carry that you can easily forget that you have on you after a while. On the range, I quickly found that if you don't screw around with the trigger too much, just grip steady, sight down, and pull it like you mean it, I could consistently hit 8, 9 and 10 ring at about 10-15 yards. When I pulled any shots, it wasn't by much and typically just the one stray mid clip. This Kel-Tec definitely kicks, but if you don't baby it, you can consistently put your shots where you would need for a concealed carry to put them. I did notice the first time out that right at 150 rounds of steady firing, my finger was starting to lose the battle with the trigger. But with a timely break during a cease fire, my next two rounds were X ring. That gives me a lot of confidence in this gun will do what counts when it counts as long as I do my part. I also like how easily the Kel-tec breaks down for cleaning. It reminds me a lot of a Glock. The take-down is intuitive and simple. This Kel-Tec also does not seem to attract and capture a lot of range crud. I basically just brush off the receiver, then clean and lightly oil the few key points up top. With that approach I am already several hundred rounds past break in and I have yet to experience any failure to feed, fire or eject issues. This gun is no HK or SIG. But for the price, and what I am getting, I have no complaints.
