It's a man stopper. What else can be said? It's a .357 with a short barrel, so it kicks like an angry mule, but the rubber grips do a fine job of taming the recoil. The sights are easy to see, and the trigger is much lighter than you'd expect. It's also beautiful to look at, which is a big selling point. My only gripe is that the trigger is completely untextured. My old S&W Model 19 has some lines running along the trigger which make it very easy to keep your finger exactly where you want it. This new 686 just has a very slick, plain steel trigger. It's not really a problem, just a personal preference I guess, but I'd still like to see them bring the texture back.

I own this pistol in a 6" barrel and the accuracy is amazing. it is my constant companion on every hunting trip but it is a bit hefty for lengthy carry. this sister firearm in 2.5" barrel is lighter and carries like a dream in my 1791 RXHS-2S holster. it goes everywhere with me and has the power and accuracy of both 357 and 38 spec. I am amazed with this gun. I am carrying a wheel gun for the first time in many years. if there were more than five stars I would rate it at the max. My new best friend!!

I am a Smith and Wesson revolver guy, glad i bought the 2.5 inch seeing that is no longer in production, love the gun, has its typical awesome trigger that only S&W can produce! My only problem is that when i get a Smith, I polish it with Mothers Mag and Aluminium polish, and it looks so good i dont want to shoot them, but i still do! This i believe is the 5th firearm I have ordered from Buds and the service is great, along with the prices! I will continue to be a Buds customer

My gun arrived at my local gun dealer a few days after ordering. The gun was in perfect condition out of the box. I cleaned it and read the owners manual. The next day I went to range and fired 100 rounds and what a pleasure this revolver is to shoot. The double action trigger is very smooth with a clean break. For a 2 1/2 inch barrel the 686 is very accurate for one hand and two hand shooting. The purchase from Bud's was very easy and the price was very good. I would recommend the 686 for anyone looking for a self defense or home defense weapon. As for Bud's it is a great company to do business with a large selection and great prices.

One of the best small barreled pistols out there. It is a beast to carry, but you will be glad you did. It's size will not be confused with any other pistol out there. Comfortable to hold, can fire .38 special or .357 magnum, and looks cool. Bud's always has the best prices out there combined with fast shipping, you can't beat Bud's.

Got my S&W 686 on time and couldn't be more pleased. The gun is totally perfect. It shoots where you aim. The fit & finish is better than I could have ask for. About 400 rounds so far & zero complaints. Buds was great to order from & I will be back for more.

Excellent gun. Easy transaction

After 500+ rounds I can honestly say, "I LOVE THIS GUN". Very accurate and easy to point. Beyond 7 yards, well it is only a 2" barrel.... This is my mattress gun, paired with a Surefire flash light I sleep very soundly. Would ABSOLUTELY buy again.

Beautiful revolver, nicely finished and 100% top notch build quality. Large and heavy enough that recoil is not an issue. I have only fired full load 357 magnums through it and did not consider it bad at all. For me, it is too large for concealed carry but I am sure for some people it is perfect, but that is not what I bought it for. I will use it as a truck gun, when out hunting or camping and to holster and carry out here around the ranch. It is awesome looking and if you were forced to pull it on a two legged aggressor I don't think that you would have to fire a round. It is not something you would want to look down the barrel at. Accuracy is great for a short barreled revolver. I have only shot it out to 25 yards, but it shot where I aimed and hit where I wanted it to with tremendous power. If you are looking for a 357 revolver, this is one you should put at the top of your list.
