I have owned numerous S&W products through the years and have never been disappointed in the quality. This gun will last a lifetime with minimal care, and be just as reliable decades from now as it is brand new. Be warned, if you have never owned or shot a .44 mag.; it is VERY powerful and has quite a recoil and for those reasons may not be the best choice for home defense if overpenetration is an issue. But if you are using this as a self-defense weapon in bear country, or just want to make sure whatever you shoot does not survive, you can't go wrong with a .44 mag. And if you want a top-quality revolver, you can't go wrong with a Smith & Wesson. The 629 is brushed stainless with a rubber grip. It is not the aesthetically pleasing gun on the market, but if you are more interested in function over beauty, then the 629 will be perfect. The model 29 Classic, with nickel finish and wooden grips is prettier, if you want a prettier gun. Bud's was fast and reasonably priced as usual.
