Purchased this gun as a multi purpose gun. One Transitioning my 15 y/o daughter from a 223 to this 308 to take her deer hunting. The heavier stainless barrel with laminated stock reduces recoil. Second was to have a foul weather gun for myself for deer and coyote. As a owner of 3 other sako rifles, I have fallen in love with the action and accuracy of them. On 2 rifles I use leupold scopes and mounts and the 3rd the sako mounts and a vortex scope. I have no issue with sako mounts and question the other review of difficulty of installing. This rifle is an excellent gun, maybe heavy for some but fits my needs perfectly.

I have used about six to eight different manufacturer bolt action rifles, comparing this .308 to those (including Browning, Winchester, Ruger, Remington and a few others), this is the top of the list. The fit and finish are superior to a fault, you may not want to take it out hunting because it is simply that beautiful of a product. The action, trigger, manufacturing, material is second to none straight out of the box. The issue most folks have is the scope mounts. You will need to use Sako or specific made, yes they are different, but they are not difficult to mount. This is the finest bolt action rifle I have ever used and is a workhorse, if you can get over the worry of scratching it.

i thought sako was a fine gun maker till i purchased this rifle sako does not know how to produce a scope mounting system first off you will spend 200.00 on their optilock mounts that have no instructions spend hours trying to get them mounted and hope they will hold in place if only i was aware I finally took this rifle to a gun smith and he laughed when he seen the mounting system he did get the scope mounted but agreed it was a joke this is no fault of buds do yourself a favor buy another brand their tikka is more friendly and a third the cost and there is no customer pure junk
