I bought this revolver based on the experience I've had with my Model 85 (stainless) that I've had since 1992. It came from the factory in beautiful condition and I've never had one complaint about it. I'm sorry I can't say that about this one. I searched through a number of reviews on Taurus high-powered revolvers and, for the most part, people seem very happy with them. However, it seems that their quality control seems rather spotty. I inspected the gun before I accepted it and it was obvious that it had been fired. No big deal, I figured it had been tested at the factory and I would clean it when I got it home. After closer inspection, the barrel was filthy and had signs of rust. After cleaning it for about 30 minutes, running a wire brush through it several times, there were still signs of lead fouling. I tested the action, and the trigger pull was very satisfactory. The only other QC issue was that the spring loaded shell extractor sometimes gets jammed and has to be forced back into position. The first time it happened I put a drop of lube on the extractor rod and I thought that took care of the problem. After putting about 50 rounds through it at the range, it happened again. I have no complaints about the way the gun shoots. It's accurate and the size of the gun makes magnum rounds easy to shoot. Taurus has a lifetime warranty, but I'll take it to a local gunsmith before I send it back for the extractor problem. From what I see on other reviews, the turnaround time is several weeks. Taurus should take note that QC issues like this could sour a customer from further purchases. I have, or have owned, Ruger and S&W, and I can't believe they would send a gun out in this condition.
