Taurus 66 .357mag 4" Stainless

As anyone who's taken the time to do a quick internet search on Taurus Firearms I'm sure you've run into quite a bit of negative criticism towards the operation of said firearms. My first firearm, do to cost was a Taurus PT111 9mm, had no issues and the gun function great, yet I saw quite a few mixed reviews on it. Same goes for Taurus Revolvers, mixed reviews, lemons, bad batches etc.

I purchased their .357 Mag T66 due to my previous experience with the PT111 and I must say the Taurus 66 Revolver is quite the let down.

Cosmetically the gun is quite beautiful but as far as the firearms intended purpose for reliably firing in a defensive situation, its a huge disgrace.

The first 50 rounds I ran through it were heavy grain 357 mags. I fired several wheels as fast as I could pull the trigger. I then slowed down and varied my trigger pulls from slow and steady, to rapid, and just general mixing up my rate of fire. Prior to running through all 50 rounds the wheel locked up and I was unable to pull the trigger, hammer, or rotate the cylinder manually. I had to pop the cylinder lock and figgit the wheel to get it to come out of the gun. This seems to be a common problem I've run into amongst reviewers of this firearm. Sadly I'm another to ad to the list.

Ive now shot varied weights from 357 to 38 super, JHP to MFJ and I have to say there is no difference what so ever. The gun still locks up and performs unreliably. I was lucky enough once to run 50 rounds through the firearm without a single issue but it seemed there was no rhyme or reason as to what was causing the gun cylinder, trigger to lock up. I'm still at a loss and fear paying shipping to Taurus only to have them return it stating "it functions within means" like so many others have reported.

If you're looking for a pretty paper weight then you shouldnt be looking to operate and own a firearm. That being said, I'd steer clear of Taurus Revolvers based soley on my experience with a long running platform that apparently Taurus is still unable to master when so many others have originals from the early 1900s that function without issue.
