Even though the pt22 has terrible reviews I still liked the look of the nickel and rosewood so I thought, what the heck, for $230.00 and decided to try my luck. well, first time out after I got the gun and cleaned and oiled it prior to the range the gun sucked. ftf, fte, and a double feed was very difficult to clear as the gun is impossible to rack and there is no extractor to remove the empty casing stuck in the barrel. I had to use a piece of rubber like cloth so I could get a grip on the slide and pull it back far enough for the tip up barrel to release. after that I tried cci and Winchester and both still did not work well. I called Taurus and they said it needs a lot of breaking in so I decided to get some flitz polish and a electric toothbrush and polish the feed ramp and the inner slide rails. I went to the range yesterday and shot almost 200 rounds with only 2 ftf. I polished the ramp a little more when I got home and expect to shoot it this week and I am pretty sure it will work very well. I love the look and feel of this gun but with such a low price tag the buyer should not expect perfection and with a little elbow grease I can be a fun little shooter. I would not use this as a carry gun because of the lack of a extractor and the inability to tap, rack bang. if Taurus would just put a little more work into this gun it would get much better ratings. the gun likes cci mini mags and that's what I will use from now on.
