Owning a big .357 (S&W Model 19-2), I wanted to get it a little brother. Unfortunately, the price for a new S&W seemed a bit steep for me. The Taurus was about to be my first handgun from them, and I have to admit I was bit leary. No one seems to knock their warranty or customer service, but I don't want to have to utilize it in the first place. So far so good... I've got about 200 rounds through it so far, and no issues. It handles 38s quite easily as expected, but I was surprised at how little it jumps on me with the 357s. My father-in-law has the Smith and definitley lets my hand know when a 357 has gone through it. Make no mistake, it lets you know it's there, it just wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Trigger pull feels pretty good, and for the circumstances it would be used in earnest, i.e. not paper punching, it would feel quite competent. I would like to see Taurus' "Ribber Grips" on it, but what it does come with fits well. This, so far, has proven an excellent low-cost alternative to S&W.
