I got my Henry 44 mag a few days ago and have had three chances to go out and shoot it. I first looked at that brass butt plate and thought to myself that wasn't going to feel good. But surprisingly shooting 44 mags out of it there was very little felt recoil, much much less than my Tikka 308 win. It probably has to do with the weight of the Henry, loaded up it is pretty heavy, not a gun that I would like to carry around all day long. Though my Marlin 44 mag is lighter, it dosn't work as well or look as good as the Henry. The fit and finish is top notch and it was fairly accurate right out of the box. I haven't written a review of the Marlin 1894 44 mag yet because it would not eject shell casings when I got it and has been at the gunsmiths for two months. I will write a review if I ever get it back.
I am very satisfied with this rifle and look forward to using it over the years.
