I bought this puppy and went to the range. It began binding up after a box of ammo, so I sent it back to Charter. They fixed it, no charge, and now it's fine. Charter gives a lifetime warranty. Good for them!
That is the only con.
The pro's:
This snub nose is very light, but the recoil is easily manageable. The .44 cartridge is MUCH more powerful than a .38 Special. Something like 340 foot pounds of energy, versus about 220 in .38. And the bigger diameter .44 slug puts more energy into the target.
This snubbie is almost as small as Charter's .38. Maybe just a tiny bit bigger, but it's not real noticeable. I would certainly pick this one again, over a low-powered .38.
Very comfortable grips. Stainless, so it will hold up to every day carry. And the big barrel hole is as intimidating as a Colt .45!
Over all, this is the one to get, rather than any of the Charter .38's. I am very happy with it. Love to take it to the range and burn thru a box of hot ammo. I think you will, too. You will feel very safe and secure packing heat like this.
One final thought: you get what you pay for. If you pay a couple hundred more for a S&W revolver, you will see the quality. But for the money, this Charter Arms .44 is excellent. Probably more than most folks will ever need.
