Beretta A391 EXT2 KO 12g 26" OBF MX4
[J391F26]
$1,290.00
by Patrick F Date Added: Sunday 15 April, 2012
I am very pleased with this shotgun. I took a long time to make up my mind and shot many different shotguns during my decision process. My choices when I started were the Winchester SX3, Benelli SBEII, Browning Maxus, and the Beretta Xtrema 2.

During the past season I eliminated the SBEII from the list due to the short stroke recoil design that adds significant felt recoil in comparison with gas operated designs and due to the close tolerances of the action. Anyone who has hunted ducks in the swamps knows that the gun will also be used as a cane when you're stuck in the water and as a tool to break up ice when it freezes over. When either of these occur, you bound to get dirt in the action and in my experience it jammed up the SBEII I was using. (gas operated systems have a much more powerful system due to design)

The next one that I eliminated was the Browning Maxus. I liked how simple it was to take down but I am 6'3" and the gun stock did not have the drop of the comb that I needed to have a good sight alignment. During my process I realized how similar the SX3 was to the Maxus and that there was a close tie in between Winchester and Browning. After shouldering the SX3, I realized that it did not fit me near as well as the Beretta.

I chose the Beretta Xtrema 2 because it fit me the best and had the best repuation of any of the mentioned shotguns. I could not be happier with my decision; It will handle literally anything that I throw at it from the Winchester super speed 7/8 oz. shot to the 3 1/2 Hypersonic loads from Remington. It has less than half of the recoil that the Benelli has and seems to point better as well. I have not shot the model without the kickoff but I am very glad to have one with it. Anyone who chooses this gun will be pleased with all the technology from the no slip technology of the forearm grip all the way to the o-ring free design of the gas system. I would highly recommend this shotgun to any duck hunter.

PS, the built in hand warmers are a nice touch to help keep your fingers from locking up on cold mornings.
