After recieving my remington 700 sps 22-250, i was instantly amazed at the finish and quality. this rifle has duel front swivel mounts, nice for mounting a bipod, the x-mark pro adjustable trigger, which is very nice, and it has a very nice dished crown. the beavertail vented fore end is also very good looking, and feels good too. I cleaned it very well when i got home, put on and bore sighted a bushnell banner 6-18 scope, and took it to the range. fired my first round, and adjusted point of aim. fired 3 more rounds, and to my amazement, they made a hole that measured 0.235" center to center, at 100 yards. not bad for the first rounds fired out of the gun. i now shoot my handloaded hornady 40 grain v-max bullets with a stout load of varget powder, around 4130 fps, and i have gotten MANY groups UNDER ONE HALF INCH at 200 yards. yes, 200. for a completely stock rifle, it is simply amazing. with my load, it is 1" high at 100, 1/2" high at 200, and 1.5" low at 300. this rifle will shoot _1" groups at 300 yards. i can aim in the middle of a prarie dog out to 300 yards, and at 400 yards, it is still only 6-8 inches low. This rifle has virtually no recoil, especially in this caliber, as the 26" heavy barrel diminishes most all of it. this is a pretty heavy gun, with my bushnell scope and medium length bipod, it weighs right around 10 lbs, which is fine with me, as it is my varmint rifle.
one thing i will note, shooting these high velocity loads, get some good copper fouling remover, once your barrel gets fouled, the groups open up to 3/4 inch to 1 inch at 100 yards, and it needs to be cleaned to remedy this.
overall, this rifle is an amazing varmint rifle. it is sharp looking, has tack driving accuracy, a great trigger, smooth action, and great feel. remington made a great rifle here folks, and buds has it for a great price. you wont regret your investment in this precision rifle.
Sincerely,
Cody Adams, reporting from the great state of Wyoming.
