As a long time 1911 owner and owner of many 1911's over the years, I was a little hesitant to finally try the "other brand". But I was in the market for a light weight commander length .45acp 1911. The pistol was of course very handsome as received, everything as it should be. I stripped, cleaned, lubed and headed for the range. I had not even one failure of any type, not one! Guess I got a good one. haha. I have since installed Wilson bulletproof ignition parts, slidestop, thumb safety, mag release and some VZ grips. This 1911 is accurate, reliable and a joy to shoot, also easy to carry being a lightweight.
Oh yeah, almost forgot, fires hollow points equally reliably. Not saying the Kimber is better than my "old standby", but I do think it is a quality weapon with a great foundation for building a proper fighting 1911 to carry and conceal
At the price I paid, I would not even think twice about buying an off shore brand. In the case of needed resale, I believe the Kimber would always retain more of its value than a imported gun, IMO
