I picked this pistol up yesterday. I had a hard time deciding between the Grand Raptor and the Stainless Raptor and finally decided on this one though I thought it was a little flashy. When I got it home and got a good look at it, it is not that it is flashy, it is just a great looking pistol. I really like it's looks, and it has a goodfeel and balance. I like everything about it EXCEPT the plastic mainspring housing. I have five Kimbers and am in the process of changing all the mainspring housings and have already ordered an Ed Brown housing with the chainlink design for this one.
I stripped it and cleaned it before I took it out to shoot a few rounds through it. This model has a stainless steel barrel and stainless guide rod which is nice.
Any way, took it out with 100 rounds of Fiocchi and Federal round nose and eight mags, Kimber, Wilson, McCormick and Colt. I shot it at 15 and 25 yards and was very impressed with the out of box accurracy, the tritium bar on the rear site is new to me but worked well. All of the mags worked flawlessly in the gun and every round chambered and fired. By the time I was done the gun was hot and dirty but had done it's job. If ammo wasn't so expensive these days I would have put a few hundred more rounds through it, it was fun to shoot.
I'm very happy with this gun and it is a great addition to my collection. I only wish that Kimber would send two mags and lose the plastic, especially on their high end pistols, I would rather they raised the price $25 and sent two mags, it would just feel better.
