Ill have agree with a previous poster, the gift cert path is a little convoluted. This is what I would expect to be able to do:
see a gift card link on the home page or little splash ad that announces it
go direct to a screen where you fill in the amount and give payment options
select choice to either send gift as email, print gift cert, or credit an existing account
hit done.

Should be easier than it is though i was able t do what I needed to do and it was OK.
