||First off I am really pleased with how smooth the transaction was and the customer service, thanks Buds!
Like many (I'm guessing) I was thrown off by the price of this 1911, and the quality of it. After reading a lot of good reviews from other sources I figured that I would give this pistol a shot as my first 1911.
The fit and finish of this pistol was was excellent (for its price range) and while inspecting it at the local gun shop I was really impressed. The slide, barrel, external controls, hammer, trigger, grip safety, barrel brushing all have a nice tight fit and smooth operations. The pistol has exceeded all my expectations for a budget GI style 1911, and I would consider it a diamond in the rough. With i'ts popularity rising I feel like the price could go up a bit, so if you have the money and want a starter/ GI 1911 pick this up. Finally I got to shoot it today (8/10) and I fed 100 rounds of federal premium 230gr through it without any issues. The accuracy is really nice and will improve when I put a few hundred more rounds through it to break it in, and I can say that I will not be parting with this 1911.
*Do remember to clean it thoroughly and lube it before shooting
Pro's and Cons (based on my personal opinions)
-Great old school GI look
-Smooth/ tight controls
-Great package at a good price
-Sights. Personally I don't mind the low profile sights (some might not like due to vision issues) and all I had to do was put some white paint on the front one which solved the problem. I will be looking for some night sights though.
-Grips. Nothing wrong with them but it would be nice to have some type of texture cut into them to get a rock solid grip. Just get some new grips and problem solved, and if you don't mind them just keep them.
All in all this a fantastic entry level 1911 with a classic look, and at $398 it is well worth taking a look at. Don't pass this up.
