Rock Island Armory GI M1911A1 Mil Spec .45

Date Added: Monday 03 December, 2012
I'm new to 1911's as a matter of fact I bought .45 gap ammo fist. Took those back and got a box of 230 grain Remington UMC target rounds and a box of 185 grain Hornady Critical Defense rounds. Before shooting the gun I took it completely apart and replaced the factory oil with hoppers 9 oil. Also whatever they shoot to test it in the factory fouled the barrel like crazy, took forever to get it clean.
Once it was cleaned and lubed I took the gun out. Shot the complete box of Remington without a hitch. Shot a complete clip of the Critical Defense rounds as well. Very pleased with the gun never failed to feed or eject, worked perfectly. It's super accurate as well. My grouping was tight at 25 feet so I set up a clay pigeon at 50 feet and hit it first try.
As far as shipping it took a while to get to Utah. I think about 3 weeks including the time for the e check to clear. It might be shorter next time since one week was during Thanksgiving.
Everyone always complains about the coating on the outside of the gun. Ok it doesn't look that great, but if you wanted a nice shiny pistol get a chrome Colt 1911. If you want a low price beast you don't have to feel bad about shooting or scratching get a RIA.
