Rock Island Armory 1911 Tactical 45 ACP 5" Parkerized [51431]

I was immediately impressed by this gun upon first inspection. The slide fit was just as everyone else said it would be. Once oiled up properly, the slide on this is as smooth, if not smoother, than my CZ 75B. I bought it at the same time as I did my the Kimber .22 conversion kit. I'll say the exact same thing I said in my review for the conversion kit: I won't pretend to be an expert because I simply am not. I just did EXTENSIVE research on the Internet before making these purchases and I recommend doing the same.
There was no break in period on this 1911. It shot everything I threw at it, including Winchester white box fmj, Federal fmj, Remington hollow point, and even the cheap fmj stuff they have at the range I go to.
I switched the grips it comes with right away to some hogue wrap arounds. It feels much more comfortable with these grips and i didn't really like the look with the town grips it comes with. The only thing I am not too impressed with is the finish on the pistol. Compared to my CZ 75, the Rock Island has more of a dull black finish and almost looks like a dark brown in some light. I can live with it because it's functions so well. I can always refinish it later.
This is an overall great pistol and I recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable, affordable 1911 with all the standard bells and whistles desired in most 1911's (beavertail safety, checkered mainspring housing, skeleton hammer and trigger). It just plain shoots and groups very well.
