Well, this is my 4th Mosin, 3rd from Buds, and the 2nd ive been disappointed in... I bought my first one from Buds, I hit the jackpot.. 1942 Izzy, immacualte bore/rifling and not even counterbored or recrowned, its a tack driver, sub MOA at 100yrds.. 2nd one i bought , 1938 Tula not in as good of shape but the rifling was decent, counterbored about an inch or so, wood was deplorable for lack of a better term, all numbers matched but for 110$ i couldnt go wrong, about an inch to inch 1/4 at 100yrds. So with tht in mind i bought one of the "excellent condition" ones, got it thursday and i could tell something wasnt right, through the lbs of cosmoline but i decided to accept it anyway and not deal with the hassel of sending it back and either getting a new one or waitin on my money. Cleaned all the cosmo off and low and behold.. Rust.. Alot of it.. Rifling is barley visible, bore is dark, counterbored about an inch, reciever and barrel stamps hardly visible, im guessing its a 1942 and have no idea of the arsenal, tang stamp was removed cause of the rust.. As far as i can tell the numbers match (bolt, trigger guard, somewhat i can see on the reciver).
