Bud's delivered on-time and on-target in their usual, quietly efficient manner with a minimum of fuss. I received a 1942 Izhevsk with the rounded-profile upper receiver, matching serial numbers and beautifully-refinished hardwood stock in virtually perfect condition. The bore was clean if slightly dark ( probably from long-term storage ) and the rifling showed no signs of wear. Overall finish was definitely A+, even if not accounting for the rifle being 70-years old. Upon testing, the bolt was literally as smooth as silk and everything worked the way it should on a brand-new certified rifle straight off the production line. Even my local FFL dealer, who is a great Russian firearms enthusiast, and who has a very critical eye for Mosin-Nagants ( he personally owns six of them and is planning on adding more to his collection ) was suitably impressed, which is saying a lot.
I know that buying surplus Mosin-Nagants are often the luck of the draw and that mine was probably one of the luckier orders, but from what I have seen of Bud's offerings, we can rest assured that the general standard will still be high, if not perfect, regardless of that factor. For the price, functionality, utility and historical significance that comes with such a fine weapon, there are few if any equals.
Once again, many thanks to Bud's Gun Shop for their great customer service and dedication to quality and affordable pricing!
