Mosin-Nagant M91/30 7.62X54R Excellent Condition
by erik v Date Added: Friday 22 February, 2013
Well, right out of the box i got a 1936 in what looked to be fantastic shape with small areas of surface rust but nothing major so i accepted it from my FFL...then i get home and removed the stock to find some nasty quarter sized pitting under the barrel, the reciever and by the bolt. After cleaning the areas up, they still look bad, got a few opinions and all said it was cosmetic and the rifle will be fine to fire. I noticed in alot of these reviews that everything looks "perfect"... take the thing apart and really inspect it. Mine had very little to no cosmoline on it... that should have been my first indication that something was going to be wrong. In any event, not sure who's at fault here, i'm guessing PW Arms is to blame for not checking these things out. Mine was not excellent... maybe "ok" condition but far from excellent. On the bright side, i now consider it a restoration project. I've done these repairs/restorations before and have had great success so looking forward to bringing this rifle back to it's full glory.
