Buds S&W Mod 10-10 review:
I’ll start w/ the specs on the pistol I received. Gap= .006, End Shake= .002, Firing Pin Protrusion .04, Cylinder-to-Bore Alignment= good, Cylinder Play=good – fairly tight but not rock solid. The Forcing Cone shows some minor pitting, and wear. Overall I would rate the mechanics as 85%.
Appearance – Mine came in w/ rubber Uncle Mikes grips, which I actually seem to like - they are a bit chewed up looking, but function well. The pistol I received is not a pretty gun by any stretch. The side cover has been pried off and metal edge bent, lots of scratches, ding and dints… I would say considerable bluing ware. Some rust and minor pitting under grips. My pistol has obviously been carried and shot quite a bit, but other than cosmetics, it does not seem to have suffered from use. Overall I would rate the appearance as 60%.
Shooting – ran 100 rounds of Federal 130gr FMJ through it at the range. Function was great, trigger very smooth. SA trigger very crisp and DA pull on par w/ S&W factory. Trigger pull gauge is loaned out – sorry. I would say it shot to point, or just a hair low. SA groups were about 3.5” at 25yrds and DA about 5”-7" – of course that says more about the shooter than the gun. Overall you should easily be able to put 6 center mass at 25yrds.
Buds – No problems with ordering, shipping, etc. Buds has always been right on the mark.
Conclusion: Over all I would rate my gun right around 70%. This is a great pistol for a truck, camper, backpack, etc. Personally I think it's a little big/heavy for CCW, but that me. It’s a good working gun, very reliable, but it aint going to win no beauty pageants. Value I would say is good for the price. I could probably find this pistol in this condition locally and pay a little less, but it would defiantly take a while. My conclusion is that I’m happy with my purchase, would recommend this deal to anyone looking for a good shooter that you don’t mind if it get an extra scratch or ding – they will just blend in with the others and not cause you to have a melt-down thinking about how much you just devalued the gun.
