I would like to start off by saying I really like this gun, I have shot a few a AK's and this is my favorite. I did however make several modifications to get this weapon to this point, and I have a couple of gripes about this weapon. I'm giving this gun 4 stars, if I could give it 3.5 I would because of the amount of modifications I did. I would however recommend getting this gun before they raise the price again.
My first gripe is the front sight. It is canted, big time. It took some time to get back into alignment. I have seen canted sights before, but this was too much.
Second complaint, the mag that came with it barely fit. The extra Tapco mag I ordered didn't fit. After some modifications the mags fit. The Eastern European surplus mags fit with no problem, they do however wobble a little. Once modifications were made, all mags work perfectly.
Third problem was with the finish. I know this an AK and finish isn't supposed to be that good, but it should be better. I duracoated the gun, and I'm now happy with the finish. However I was very disappointed the finish and didn't feel it was up to par.
I replaced the ugly Tapco stock with skeleton stock that has a 1 inch pad. This configuration has reduced recoil significantly. I would recommend this set up to everyone.
All in all I really like this rifle. I like projects so I'm not upset about the issues I have with this gun. I look forward to really breaking this gun in.
