On a scale of 1 to 5, I'll rate a product a 3 if does what it's supposed to and give it more points only if it exceeds my expectations. Unfortunately, this shotgun is only fair and earns a 2. First, the gun shipped with a wrong part. The front sling mount was too large to fit in the pre-threaded hole, but I can fix this myself.
What really gripes me is the lousy parkerized finish. Really-- it's terrible. It looks good on the receiver, but the barrel and the heat shield are actually a greenish-grey! You can't imagine how bad it looks... I wish I could post pics. Don't expect to get a gun that looks anything like the marketing pic.
Now I know Buds would probably make this right if I took it back, but I bought this thing to shoot bad guys in the dark, so how it looks is irrelevant. But I have to wonder if Mossberg can't even get their finishes right, what else did they cut corners on?
The Insight light is very good. It's bright, ambidextrous and much better quality than the gun itself. However, it did not ship with instructions of any kind. It took me a while to figure out... If you buy one of these, press once & hold for momentary on, double tap & release for continuous on, and tap once and hold for strobe function. I hope this helps someone.
