Yet again, another high quality firearm purchased from Bud's. Order with transfer took 3 days to Richmond, VA.
That being said, this weapon is a work of art. Deciding between the 9mm and .40 cal versions was not as arduous a task once considered the one round difference versus penetrating power. With such a solid frame and slide, it only makes sense to go with the larger bore as not to waste it's capability.
The operation seems fine tuned, yet will hopefully yield near perfect performance once broken in at the range. I have broken down completely and polished contacts (especially trigger bar and trigger bar retention spring) for smoother trigger function, and cleaned her internals from Kahr's test firing. She is not as gritty as she was out of the box.
The night sights are highly visible in blackout environments, and the lateral gap between the front and rear sights is very minimal when lined up, making precision targeting child's play. This is my second handgun yet my first intended CCW, so it just made sense to have precision night sights.
As for the feel of the weapon in one's hand, brick-like is the term that comes to mind. It feels impeccably solid yet is comfortable to grip with three fingers and a thumb. I won't be needing a grip extension (I have medium sized hands). The weight is not hindering and adds to the secure feel of the gun. I can't wait to break her down again and re-clean after her recommended 200 round break-in.
The slide lock is in a comfortable location and well within reach for easy transition between mag catch. The slide catch right now is a little tough to manipulate and a bit sharp as well, hopefully that will change with time.
Overall, this firearm is near perfection. There is no better .40 caliber handgun for a CCW in my opinion once considering frame size and the manufacturer's precise layout of function. What a gorgeous tool.
