Picked up my 1911 S from my dealer, brought it home fielded stripped and inspected. Did not notice any excessive tooling marks, was not overly packed with grease, fit and finish were better than expected for a $439 1911. Went out back and put 50 rounds through it. I had 1-2 rounds per mag that would fail to eject or cause a stovepipe jam. Brought it back in, completely stripped slide and tested the extractor, it was way to loose. Adjusted tension and now it runs like a champ. Went through rapid fire and at a normal rate and ran a flawless 75 rounds.
I expected to have to buy different grips from the reviews, but Girsan must have changed them because the ones I got are very nice and do not feel like plastic. Also, the pistol shoots about 1" low at 10 yards. Not a big deal, just need to adjust point of aim.
Overal, if you are looking for an inexpensive 1911, and are not afraid to do a little tinkering to get it to run right, this is a great choice. I was going to give it 3 stars, due to the lack of tension on the extractor, but due to the fit, finish, price, and overal condition, will bump it up to 4.
